This module covers the processes involved in providing safe and competent Dermatology services to the Australian Indigenous population. It focuses on the skills, knowledge and behaviours required when taking a history, examining, diagnosing, and managing skin diseases in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Skin infections are prevalent among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Some environmental and cultural factors contribute to the spreading of these diseases. These infections have direct implications for health and contribute to more severe diseases such as rheumatic heart disease and renal disease.

In this module you will learn to:

1. Common skin diseases that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in urban, regional, and remote Australia
2. Systemic effects of skin disease
3. Different manifestations of skin disease in heavily pigmented skin and how to diagnose them
4. Managing patients in a culturally sensitive manner and how to adapt recommended treatment to the contemporary Indigenous cultural context

Complete this module online, at your own pace and from the comfort of your home or office.
